Night awakenings

FD Frederic D. April 12, 2020 — Facebook
This device ... works ... or rather sends you to sleep! I've been using dodow for several weeks ..... and this is the stuff of dreams!! It makes me fall asleep really fast .... since I started using it regularly. I did not even have the time to watch the full 7 min session ... and I was already away with the fairies. Suddenly, it is part of the trip during the next holiday to the south ...   And if I wake up during the night, in a few minutes ... I am back to sleep... whereas previously that took me more than 1 hour.  Thanks to the designer of dodo. I now recommend it to my loved ones.   Frederic D.

Stress

MG Mor Gane April 12, 2020 — Facebook
I bought it over 2 years ago, I used it every night at the beginning, and now I do only when I feel nervous, and at times when I wake up during the night, I just think again at the light and focus on the breathing exercises, and I fall asleep easily.   Having been a paramedic in the past, I had a lot of trouble falling asleep, because it made me very anxious.   Dodow helped me a lot in less than 15 days, I haven't used it for a while because now I am falling asleep easily.   I had heard a lot about it in the media, but I was skeptical about the price. However, going to Darty, I bought it on a whim and I was persuaded, because it did a great job!   Mor Gane

Thoughts running through your head

Excellent product! I find that the pace at the start is always a little too fast for me, but then it gradually decreases, so I can keep up without difficulty. I follow the advice on the instructions and on the site, so I can fall asleep much more easily. Of course, some nights my brain is more active than others, so falling asleep takes a little longer, but Dodow helps reduce that time enormously!   Laure C.

Chronic insomnia

LC Lauranne C. April 12, 2020 — Facebook
For as long as I can remember I have suffered from insomnia. I tried all methods and took sleeping pills, with no real results. So, despite not being totally convinced, I bought a Dodow, being a bit desperate. It took me a few nights to adjust and properly align my breathing with the light. But, after 2/3 days, I adapted perfectly, and I was surprised by the results: shortly after the end of the 20 min program, I fell asleep like a log, without even realizing it! Since then, I keep it with me all the time! I use it to sleep, but sometimes also to relax during the day (especially to help me concentrate, just before an important task). I love it and recommend it to everyone I meet ?   Lauranne C.

Worries

CP Cindy P. April 12, 2020 — Facebook
First night with Dodow. I've been taking sleeping pills for 10 years (+ all sorts of funny things for sleeping, which I quit 6 months ago), and now, at night, I need no sleeping pills. I said to myself I should test Dodow to check whether the thing works. I had it set for the 20-minute mode, but I think the 8 minutes one would have been enough. Although I tried to resist, I couldn't have lasted more than 5-6 minutes. I woke up during the night, went back to Dodow and 2-3 minutes later I was again in the arms of Morpheus. I hope it will carry on like this !! But, in any case, thank you Dodow, because, thanks to you, I can stop the sleeping pills, so I will be eternally grateful to you ???   Cindy P.

Children (6+)

The little box you need for a lifetime. my daughter and I really appreciate it! it's truly great to have regained a restful sleep. My sleep was very disturbed because I have sleep apnea and asthma. The Dodow allowed me to breathe better and allowed me to sleep better. My 12 and 5-year-old used it too. It helped me reduce my anxiety and hyperventilation Focusing on the blue light allowed me to stop concentrating on my breathing problems. I don't use it anymore, but it works really well, it really helped me fall asleep, which is especially complicated with asthma, but Dodow was able to help me.  It's the same for my son, who does not leave it behind even when he goes to sleep at his grandparents' (he does not lose sight of it, it's like a cuddly toy for him) I am grateful to Dodow for helping us   Carole T.

Our answers to your questions

Dodow

Why do I need Dodow?

Unless you have received special training, like Air Force fighter pilots, this cardiac coherence exercise is very difficult to do without a breathing guide! Giving Caesar his due, the breathing exercises of Sophrology are themselves inspired by Yoga Pranayama. Here are the 4 reasons why Dodow is not just a simple Sophrology breathing exercise:
1. Dodow indicates an optimal pace for you: 6 breaths per minute to put you in a state of rest and to rebalance your autonomic nervous system. Every breath out is 50% longer than the breath in to tire you out. Trying to follow your own breathing independently forces you to think and to count, which causes performance anxiety, thereby significantly delaying sleep.
2. The attention span of a person not used to meditating is thirty seconds at most, so you can very quickly become lost in your thoughts and forget to do the breathing exercise. Dodow's light signal keeps you on track!
3. Synchronizing one's breathing with a slow and steady light pulse has a hypnotic effect, similar to watching a pendulum that helps you unwind quickly
4. Dodow helps you simmer down and calm the flow of your thoughts by keeping your attention focused on an external point (the light signal), without your having to concentrate on your breathing - the emphasis is paradoxically placed on keeping you awake.
We have no doubt as to the effectiveness of simple breathing exercises, but are less confident about the ability of our users to do them on their own ;).

Will Dodow disturb the person lying next to me?

No. If the person's eyes are closed, they will not be disturbed; if they do the exercise with you, they will fall asleep very quickly.

Why blue light?

The color blue was chosen after much testing, based on the generally accepted perception that blue is calming. Blue light in high doses can help wake you up by inhibiting melatonin secretion, but Dodow does not. Being projected on the ceiling, the light signal, at its maximum intensity and for someone who is lying in bed, has a very low intensity (less than 1 lux), compared with the relatively strong intensity of a computer or television screen (about 60 lux at a distance of 50cm). In addition, the exposure time (between 8 and 20 minutes) is low. Dodow's impact on the circadian rhythm is therefore almost zero or, in any case, far too low to delay falling asleep and counteract the positive effects described above. The luminous halo is, therefore, in fact, more similar to color than to light.

Does Dodow also work for jet lag?

Dodow works great for jet lag or irregular sleep phases. Dodow is also used by Air France flight staff, with whom we have entered into a partnership. They have 50,000 cabin crew members traveling around the world.

I am really stressed, can Dodow help me?

Yes, by breathing long enough in Dodow's rhythm (6 breaths per minute), you will stimulate the baroreflex, a small physiological mechanism that helps restore balance to the autonomic nervous system. Thus, you will quickly go from a state of alertness (activation of the sympathetic nervous system) to a resting state (activation of the parasympathetic nervous system), the same state you are in during digestion: slightly sleepy. In this state, you will be much less sensitive to your stress, your metabolism will be slowed down, the secretion of neurotransmitters that kept you awake should have been stopped, and sleep will be very close. On the other hand, by focusing on the halo projected by Dodow on the ceiling, you will be distracted from your thoughts. Some people try to ”force” sleep: by trying to fall asleep at all costs, they create stress that prevents them from falling asleep. By keeping your eyes open to follow the light pulse, you no longer try to fall asleep, and, paradoxically, you increase your chances of falling asleep. In psychology this is called paradoxical intent, scientific studies have shown its utility in treating sleep onset disorders.

Can Dodow help me fall back to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night?

Yes, you just need to touch the surface of the Dodow to turn it back on, just like you do when you want to fall asleep. The routine is the same as at the beginning of the night. Synchronizing your breathing with the luminous halo, which pulses in a slow and regular rhythm, has a hypnotic effect (the phenomenon is similar to that of looking at a pendulum). So after a few minutes, you will be able to unwind and fall asleep.

Is Dodow suitable for children and the elderly?

Yes, we have plenty of testimonials on this (we encourage you to browse through them). The breathing routine proposed by Dodow is very simple and should be done gradually and calmly. Dodow is particularly well suited for people who are afraid of the dark (numerous in children and the elderly). Dodow can be used from the age of 6.

How quickly would Dodow allow me to fall asleep?

Results may vary depending on individuals, but most people will fall asleep easily within the first 20 minutes, while many do fall asleep even before the end of the 8-minute cycle. Our users tell us they fall asleep 2.5 times faster (on average) thanks to Dodow. And, please remember, the more you use Dodow, the better results you can expect - or it is even possible not to need it any longer -.

What if Dodow doesn't work for me? :(

You have 100 days to test Dodow, we will refund your money if you are not satisfied.

Will Dodow turn off by itself?

Yes, of course, Dodow will turn off by itself at the end of your 8-minute or 20-minute routine, depending on your choice.

BE PATIENT, BE OPENMINDED, BE DODOW It took a little while and patience but the Dodow did indeed work for me and has improved my sleep dramatically. I think it’s about changing habits, lifestyle (as is advised) and this simple but clever gadget paves the way. Also no side affects that you get with using alcohol/drugs (wrongly) or prescribed medications to help you sleep. A winner, inexpensive (considering) and amazing customer service whether things go wrong perhaps or possibly even right.

Dodow : Created by insomniacs

The danger of sleeping pills led Alex, a chronic insomniac, to look for other ways to fall asleep.

He discovered that the control of breathing is at the heart of practices such as meditation, yoga, Sophrology and cardiac coherence.

Numerous studies have shown that breathing is ultimately one of the best tools for regulating stress and mental restlessness! Long months of meditation practice have definitively solved his problems. Accompanied by industrial designers Pierre and Gui, Alex wondered how to help the 8 million French insomniacs succeed in falling asleep faster thanks to breathing, without having to train during long months. After 2 years of research and numerous prototypes, Dodow was born.
